  • Occupation on enlistment in 1916 was Brewers Drayman, Wairoa Rtnd NZ 1919. Died of TB at Pukeora San, Waipukurau 1923, Buried Wairoa Cemetery, but NOT in a Returned Serviceman's grave. Father Daniel ex Ashhurst buried Palmerston North. Mother Elizabeth Quinn (nee Brennan born 24 September 1854 at Durham UK) and unborn child died in horse/cart accident returning from Church 06 April 1893, buried at Makaraka Cemetery Gisborne plot 323, Block H. Medalic entitlement War and Victory Medals, MiD Oak Leaf. One medal with MiD Oak Leaf is in my possession ex my father, Peter Quinn. Children of Daniel & Elizabeth were Margaret, Mary, Philip (all born UK) Daniel, Joseph, John (aka Jack), Thomas, Lilian, Theresa, Francis (aka Frank), Catherine (aka Annie) - all NZ Born.
