    Admitted to NZ General Hospital, Cairo, 29 February 1916 (influenza); transferred to Lady Godley's Home, Zeitoun, 22 March 1916 (tonsillitis); discharged to NZ Base Depot, Ghezireh, 31 March 1916; joined 2nd Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, Moascar, 7 April 1916.
    Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, France, 8 April 1916.
    Attached to No 2 Company, NZ Machine Gun Corps, 1 June 1916; transferred to NZ Machine Gun Corps, 15 July 1916, and posted to No 2 Company.
    Admitted No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 8 September 1916 (boils, left forearm), and transferred same day to Corps Rest Station; rejoined unit, 24 September 1916.
    Found guilty, 6 February 1917, of neglect of duty, when on sentry duty failing to salute officers: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2.
    Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 24 March 1917 (diarrhoea); rejoined unit, 2 April 1917.
