    • John Coradine was the son of James Moore Coradine and Sarah Ann Coradine, of 61 Pine St., Masterton, New Zealand. Native of Timaru. AWMM
    • Born about 8 August 1887 in Timaru. Attended school in Masterton 1896-1900. His father was Mayor of Masterton.

      A MASTERTON HERO,
      SERGEANT J. CORADINE,
      The sad news reached Masterton this morning that a very popular Mastertonian, Sergeant Jack Coradine, had been killed in action. Deceased left with one of the early contingents and saw particularly heavy fighting in France. He was a typical soldier, and his work at the front was earning for him the highest praise of his superior officers. The deceased was the second son of Mr and Mrs J. M.Coradine, of Masterton, and conducted a very successful business in Masterton as barrister and solicitor, subsequently taking Mr W. Noble as a partner. The deceased showed brilliant ability as a law student and passed his examinations with high honours before he was 21 years of age. The late Sergeant Coradine was closely connected with the sports and pastimes of the town. He took a leading part in the work of the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club, and was at one time its secretary. With all whom he came in contact with deceased was very popular and his death will be deeply deplored.
