I am married to a relative of William Forrest Fowlds. The branch of the family now spells the surname FAULDS. We have continued the use of Fowlds/Faulds family forenames - Matthew (William Forrest Fowlds's grandfather's name), William and George (William Forrest Fowlds's father's name). My husband Ian Faulds and I shall be visiting Auckland in September 2015 and intend to visit the Museum. We would like to know more about William Forrest Fowlds, particularly why he was awarded a military cross, and Sir George Fowlds (his father). Family legend has it that Sir George Fowlds gave his father Matthew Fowlds' weaving loom to a museum in Auckland. Do you have any record of this and does it still exist? I see the photograph of Matthew at his loom (centenarian weaver) is in your records.
