    Served as an interpreter for the transfer of Cook Islanders to Egypt. Embarked for Egypt on HMT Canberra, and arrived in Alexandria in August 1918, he was posted to the Rarotongan compay as the Company medical orderly. Embarked for Australia per SS Malta and attached for duty in quarantine in Fremantle Australia. He worked as a medical attendant to care and act as an interpreter for 16 soldiers including 13 rarotongans. Discharged in July 1919, and returned to Rarotonga, where he was active in the Cook Islands RSA in the mid 1920s.
