  • John Henry Bickley is my father. Too the best of my knowledge he was born in East Takaka in 1893 and died at Nelson in 1975 and is buried at Takaka. Henrynwas not his real name. Real middle name was Michael. He reinlisted again in 1942 and served approx 70 days on home defense using his correct middle name Michael. Lest We Forget

  • John Henry Bickley is my Grandfather. I grew up next door to him. Henry was not his real middle name it was in fact Michael. He joined in 1915 with his brother Carrell. Both altered names or spelling of names,,I.e Carrell for what we suspect was underage enlistment.
