  • Walter Allen (Wattie) was my Grandfather. Married to Eva Mabel née Tilson. Father of Ross Leslie Allen and Grandfather of Warren, Peter and Julie. Wattie was wounded at Gallipoli and returned by ship to Australia before returning to NZ. After marrying Eva they settled in New Plymouth and he worked on the railway working his way up to engine driver.
