  • We celebrated my father's 89th birthday today and I saw Chas's WW1 plaque - my sister has inherited it from the Jamieson estate - one of his sister's, Lydia ( my great grandmother) , had received it. Who in the family ended up with his medals and scroll?

  • Stephen Charles Hartley is my great great uncle He was born on 14 July 1883 to George and Elizabeth Hartley of Rewa. He died on 15 October 1916 in Battle of the Somme. He was 33 years old and is buried at the Caterpillar Valley Memorial, Somme, France. "Thank you for sacrificing your today to give us a tomorrow in a better world. We will never forget"
