    Joined 2nd Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, in the field, 30 July 1916.
    Wounded in action, 10 June 1917 gun shot wound, leg and buttock: severe), and admitted to 77th Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 53rd Casualty Clearing Station; to 13th General Hospital, Boulogne, 11 June 1917; to England, 17 June 1917, and admitted same day to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames. Transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 10 August 1917.
    Classified unfit for war service, 9 October 1917.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Liverpool on board 'Ruahine', 9 November 1917; discharged (no longer fit for War Service on account of wounds received in action), 2 April 1918.
