  • David Chapman was my maternal grandfather. I have many fond memories of him. He told me that when he was wounded in France, most of his comrades were killed and he had no identification on him, had amnesia, suffered shrapnel wounds, & was picked up by Canadians & taken to their field hospital initially. My cousin (also David Chapman) has a Christchurch newspaper clipping with his photo that says he was missing in action. It was a period of great difficulty. I give tribute to my grandfather and hold him close in my memory.
