    Enlisted with rank of private and posted to C Company, 12th Reinforcements, Trentham Camp, Upper Hutt, 12 January 1916.
    Found guilty, 15 January 1916, of being unshaven on parade: awarded 3 days' confined to barracks.
    Found guilty, 21 January 1916, of breaking camp: awarded 7 days' confined to barracks.
    Proceeded overseas from Wellington with 12th Reinforcements on board HMNZT 'Ulimaroa', 1 May 1916.
    Disembarked Suez, Egypt, 9 June 1916. Embarked on board HMT 'Ivernia' at Alexandria, and proceeded overseas for England, 26 July 1916.
    Disembarked Southampton, England, 7 August 1916. Marched in to Sling Camp and taken on strength 3rd (Reserve) Battalion, Canterbury-Otago Regiment and posted to 1st Canterbury Company, 9 August 1916.
    Struck off strength of 1st Canterbury Company, 3rd (Reserve) Battalion, Canterbury-Otago Regiment and marched out from Sling Camp, 21 December 1916; marched in and taken on strength New Zealand Base Kit Stores, New Zealand Army Service Corps, Bulford, 23 December 1916.
    Granted leave without pay from 13 April 1919 to 5 May 1919.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Southampton, England, on board HMNZT 'Chupra', 8 June 1919.
    Disembarked in Wellington, New Zealand, 28 July 1919. Discharged on termination of period of engagement, 25 August 1919.
