Clement Christie Brownie
Thanks Poppa. Always remember that powerful smell of your pipe.
Public - Nicholas - Direct descendant - 12 October 2017
My grandfather Clement Christie Brownie was wounded in the Battle of the Somme, but recovered to fight again at both Messines and Passchendaele. He kept a diary of his time in the war.
Apparently he saw "that German bugger that shot me taking aim."
Returned to NZ, married Gladys, had 3 children (one still with us today on 12 October 2017 - the hundred years' anniversary of the great NZ losses at Passchendaele) and now has 10 surviving grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He died while playing Golf in Wanganui in 1966.
Wanted to re-enlist in 1939 but was considered too old. He never did have time for Germans.
