    • Herbert Henry was the son of James and Jane Caird Henry, of Matapu, Taranaki, New Zealand.

      National Army Museum, New Zealand holds a photocopy of his diary from Apr 1916 – Aug 1916 (Accession No. 1993.992) and letters (Accession No. 2017.15.2) AWMM
    • Herbert Matthew - known as 'Pat' - was the youngest of 12 children (8s. 4d.) of James & Jane Caird (POOLE) HENRY.
      B.D.M. on-line has his birth as 20/5/1893.

      The family farm was on Lower Duthie Road, Matapu.

      His brother, Clarence, served in the A.I.F. and died of wounds, being buried in Brisbane. Public - Maurice - Other relative - 17 January 2020 - Family & Oral History.
