    • Alexander Bannister was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bannister, of Longbush, Masterton. Born at Mauriceville. Served on the Western Front, 1916-17. AWMM
    • Brother of Private Stanley Masters Bannister : NZEF Service # 14558, Wellington Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, 14th Reinforcements, NZEF.
      Alexander & Stanley enlisted together on the same day - 6 March 1916. They were issued with consecutive Regimental Service numbers : 14557 (Alexander) & 14558 (Stanley).
      They left New Zealand for overseas war service together - on HMNZ Transport Ship - 'Maunganui' - on 26 June 1916.
      Private Stanley Masters Bannister died of wounds - on 20 June 1917 - at Belgium. He was 21 years of age.
      Both Private Alexander & Private Stanley Bannister are remembered on the Maungaraki War Memorial (1914-1918) - at Gladstone, Wairarapa District. Public - Jenifer - Researcher - 11 February 2017 - Military file of Private Stanley Masters Bannister : Auckland War Memorial Museum.
