    Proceeded overseas to France, 5 September 1916; joined 2nd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 3 October 1916, and posted to A Company.
    Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 21 March 1917 (inflamed right knee joint); transferred to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 27 January 1917; rejoined unit, 8 February 1917.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 24 February 1917 (rheumatism); transferred to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 10 March 1917; to No 14 General Hospital, Wimereux, 15 March 1917; to England, 17 March 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames; transferred to NZ Convalesent Hospital, Hornchurch, 20 April 1917.
