    Proceeded overseas to France, 5 September 1916; joined 2nd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 3 October 1916, and posted to A Company.
    Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 21 March 1917 (inflamed right knee joint); transferred to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 27 January 1917; rejoined unit, 8 February 1917.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 24 February 1917 (rheumatism); transferred to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 10 March 1917; to No 14 General Hospital, Wimereux, 15 March 1917; to England, 17 March 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames; transferred to NZ Convalesent Hospital, Hornchurch, 20 April 1917.
    Marched in to NZ Conmmand Depot, Codford, 2 May 1917, and posted to No 1 NZ (Division) Employment Company on establishment.
    Proceeded overseas to France (date not recorded), and attached to No 4 Company, NZ Army Service Corps, in the field, 26 August 1917.
    Classified 'C' by Travelling NZ Medical Board, 23 November 1917.
    Transferred to England, 27 December 1917; taken on strength, NZ Depot, Torquay, 30 December 1917.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Liverpool on board HMNZT 'Tahiti', 1 February 1918; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service), 13 April 1918.
    War service: 2 years 86 days (of which 1 year 315 days were abroad)
