    Commenced return to New Zealand from Suez on board 'Willochra', 26 December 1915; discharged, 5 May 1916.
    Re-enlisted 17 May 1916.
    Embarked Wellington, 31 May 1916; awarded 7 days' detention, at sea (no further details recorded); disembarked Devonport, 26 July 1916, and marched in to Sling Camp.
    Embarked for France with NZ Field Artillery, 3 October 1916; posted to Divisional Ammunition Column, in the field, 13 October 1916.
    Appointed Shoeing Smith, 13 October 1916; relinquished appointment, 2 April 1917.
    Appointed Shoeing Smith, 4 April 1917. Posted to 3rd Battery, 5 April 1917.
    Admitted to 13th Australian Field Ambulance, 18 July 1917 (pleuradyma), and thence to 4th Australian Field ambulance and Divisional Rest Station, 18 July 1917; discharged to duty, 26 July 1917.

    Found guilty, 23 October 1917, of when on Active Service being absent without leave, 8.30 pm, 21 October, to 8.30 pm, 22 October 1917: awarded loss of 2 days' gross pay, and forfeited an additional 2 days' pay under Royal Warrant.
    Transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 19 December 1917; to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 13 February 1918.
    On Command at NZ Soldiers' Club, London, 16 April 1918. Admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 27 June 1918; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 24 September 1918; discharged on furlough, 18 December 1918, to report to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 2 January 1919.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Portsmouth on board SS 'Raranga', 11 March 1919; disembarked Newport, Nova Scotia, Canada, 25 March 1919; re-embarked 29 March 1919;
    discharged, 13 October 1919 (no longer physically fit for War Service on account of illness contracted on Active Service).
