Arthur Arnold Best
I am so proud of my father, Arthur Arnold Best. I was only able to spend 12 years of my life with him, as he died from bowel cancer on 17 August 1966. We lived in Nelson, where I was born on 15th June 1954, and then we moved to the Hibiscus Coast, Auckland, when I was 7 years old. I do not know much at all about his ancestry or family, and wish I had been able to talk to him about it. I do remember that he had a war wound on his leg, and I have his prayer book, which all the soldiers were given, I believe, when they deployed.
He was a loving, caring Christian gentleman, and I cherish the upbringing he gave me and my heritage from him.
Love you and miss you Dad - thank you for your service.
