    • Son of Matthew and Elizabeth Holland of High Street, Maryborough, Victoria, Australia

The New Zealand Command Depot was established at Codford in June 1916 and the No 3 New Zealand General Hospital followed in July. The New Churchyard was established by deed of gift as the "Military Burial Ground," with a small part reserved for future burials from the parish. AWMM
    • MARYBOROUGH – On Friday word was received by his relatives in Maryborough of the death in a war hospital of Gunner Francis A. Holland. The young soldier was well known and respected in Maryborough. He enlisted in New Zealand in the early stages of the war, and was attached to the artillery section of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces. He took part in much of the heavy fighting in France, where he received wounds, from which he died on 6th of September. Another brother, Lieut. Cyril H. Holland, is serving with the A.I.F. in France. Another brother to the above is Cr. J.E. Holland of Bendigo, who served in the Boer war.
