    Proceeded overseas to France, 20 August 1916; posed to Pioneer Bn, in the field, 4 September 1916.
    Admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 30 December 1916 (influenza); transferred to NZ Divisional Rest Station, 2 January 1917; rejoined Bn from hospital, 16 January 1917.
    Admitted to 24th General Hospital, Etaples, from Machine Gun School, 13 March 1917 (tonsillitis); discharged to Base Depot, 30 March 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 6 April 1917.
    Found guilty, 17 April 1917, of when on Active Service being absent from Fatigue: deprived of 1 day's pay.
    Sent to hospital as Batman to Lt Catchpole, 30 July 1917; rejoined Bn, 2 August 1917.
    On leave, 16 August 1917; rejoined Bn from leave, 30 August 1917.
    Joined 2nd Bn, wellington Infantry regiment, 5 September 1917.
