    Proceeded overseas to France, 26 September 1916; joined 1st Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 14 October 1916.
    Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 29 April 1917; discharged to duty, 14 May 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 15 May 1917.
    On leave to United Kingdom, 20 September 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, from leave, 11 October 1917.
    Wounded in action, 20 October 1917 gun shot wound, chest and right arm), and admitted to No 3 Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station; to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, 22 October 1917; to England, 29 October 1917, and admitted to Endell Street Military Hospital, London, 31 October 1917; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 6 November 1917; attached on strength of NZ Convalescent Depot, Codford, and sent on leave, 22 December 1917, until 7 January 1918.
