    Proceeded overseas to France, 26 September 1916; joined 1st Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 14 October 1916.
    Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 29 April 1917; discharged to duty, 14 May 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 15 May 1917.
    On leave to United Kingdom, 20 September 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, from leave, 11 October 1917.
    Wounded in action, 20 October 1917 gun shot wound, chest and right arm), and admitted to No 3 Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station; to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, 22 October 1917; to England, 29 October 1917, and admitted to Endell Street Military Hospital, London, 31 October 1917; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 6 November 1917; attached on strength of NZ Convalescent Depot, Codford, and sent on leave, 22 December 1917, until 7 January 1918.
    Joined 3rd (Reserve) Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, Sling Camp, 18 March 1918.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 15 April 1918; joined 2nd Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 12 May 1918.
    Wounded in action (second occasion), 1 September 1918 (gun shot wound, thigh); admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 2 September 1918, and transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 21, 4 September 1918, and admitted to 2nd General Hospital, Havre, 5 September 1918; discharged to Base Depot from No 4 Convalescent Depot, 21 September 1918; rejoined 2nd Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 8 October 1918.
    Found guilty, Sling Camp, of being absent without leave, 13-17 April 1919: forfeited 4 days' pay under Royal Warrant.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from London on board SS 'Prinzessin', 16 May 1919; discharged (termination of period of engagement), 28 July 1919.
