    Proceeded overseas to France from Camp Sling, 26 September 1916; Joined 1st Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 12 October 1916.
    Detached to 2nd Brigade as Carrier, 5 June 1917.
    Wounded in action, 7 June 1917 (gun shot wound, legs), and admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance; transferred to 11th Casualty Clearing Station, 9 June 1917; to No 1 South African General Hospital, Abbeville, 10 June 1917; to England, 14 June 1917, and admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 15 June 1917. Transferred to Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 7 August 1917; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 29 September 1917. On leave to 15 October 1917.

    Attached to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 15 January 1918; transferred to 5th Infantry Reserve Brigade, Camp Sling, 19 February 1918. Marched into 3rd Reserve Bn, Camp Sling, 11 April 1918.
