  • Refer to James William Little's SA War # 8721, page for full details. He saw service with the 10 Contingent of NZ Mounted Rifles in South Africa in 1902 and with the 1st World War joined in 1916 the 4th Maori Contingent, however became ill and was returned to NZ. On returning to Gisborne he applied for Home Guard duties and once found 'medically fit', returned to serve in the NZ Territorials James William (aka William James) LITTLE (born 23 March 1884 in Gisborne) is the son of Robert & Eliza Little of Kaiti, Gisborne. He married Elsie Elizabeth Clark in 1918 and died in Auckland 1 October 1960
