  • Kia Ora Karaitiana.... You wrote to my great grand aunty Sybil Mary Lee during WW1 and the beautiful postcards are now kept in the collection at Te Papa. This tribute is in memory of a young man and his battalion that gave up their youthful innocence to fight in a war that were to forever change your lives and that have ultimately ensured that we live ours in freedom. My family did not know you or yours but Sybil knew yours and she obviously provided a safe haven for so many young maori men that came from Tokomaru Bay.
