    War service: Egypt, Palestine
    Medical report. Moascar, Egypt, 23 December 1917: 'Had shell shock about seven works ago and was alright again till he was in the trenches when he found that the sniping and the noise of the shells gave him bad headaches and the old trouble returned. Admitted to 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital on 13/12/1917 and it was found that his heart was irregular in action and on walking up and down the ward the heart became still more irregular also the pulse was increased from 80 to 120 per minute. Had rheumatic fever in New Zealand some years ago.'
    Medical Board, Wellington, 7 February 1918, diagnosed shell shock; permanently unfit for Active Service.
