  • During the guided tour "March of the Phoenix" by the Peace village, youth hostel in Messines (B), participants are invited to take part in a remembrance activity for the NZL soldiers who lost their lives on June 7, 1917. You get a wooden post on which you can leave a message for a soldier whose name was given to you randomly. These posts will be placed along the Peace Path in Messines, connecting the NZL Memorial Park with the Island of Ireland Peace Park. In this way I was connected to Leslie Libeaus Hunt, whom I will now remember personally every time I am guiding on the Messines Ridge.
