Born 14 October 1895 at Hatham Green Farm in the village of Stansted, near Sevenoaks, Kent, England.Immigrated to New Zealand and resided in Timaru, New Zealand until enlistment in World War 1 in 1916.Married in 1920 at Timaru and lived on a farm in Hunter Hills near Waimate in South Canterbury until the 1930s. His wife passed away in 1940 and he returned to the United Kingdom in 1944.He married again in England in 1946 and immigrated with wife and son to Melbourne, Australia in 1961 on the liner Willem Rhys. The family then moved to Budgewoi on the Central Coast in New South Wales in Australia in 1963.
