    • Hubert Hurford was the son of William and Mary Ann Hurford, of Beetham Farm, Combe St. Nicholas, Chard, Somerset, England. AWMM
    • Hubert's younger brother Bruce Hurford (my Great Grand Father) also served in WW1 in the NZEF Otago Regiment, 3rd Battalion, service number 8/1515

      Hubert was one of 9 children, he was the second eldest.
      In order of birth all 9 children of William and Mary Ann
      Ralph Public - Lee - Other Relative - 21 April 2015 - Family papers, ancestory and genealogy searches.
    • I have since discovered that Hubert's younger brother Percy Hurford also enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force on 13 April 1916 at Dubbo, NSW at 24years of age
      Percy was placed in the 54th Battalion, 6th Reinforcements.
      Percy was deployed on HMAT CERAMIC from Sydney, NSW 07 October 1916
      He was a Machine Gunner with service number 2668
