  • Obituary
Mr A. A. Finlayson, of Whangarei, died suddenly this morning at his home in Whau Valley Road, aged 70 years. Born & brought up in Purua, Mr Finlayson lived and farmed in Northland all his life. He was first at Purua, then went to the Bay of Islands for some years and later returned to the Whangarei district and farmed at Ngararatunua until he retired about three years ago. Mr Finlayson went overseas during WW1 with the North Auckland Mounted Rifles. In 1927 he married Rita McGregor from Whangarei Heads, and they had two children, Mary, now Mrs. Johnston, of Leigh, and Ross, who now manages the farm at Ngararatunua. He was elected to the Marginal Lands Committee four years ago and was a member until his death. Mr Finlayson was interested in most fields of sport, racing in particular. He is survived by his wife & two children.
FINLAYSON, A. A. (Beb). On July 29, 1963, at Whangarei (suddenly), Beb, dearly loved husband of Rita and father of Mary (Mrs Johnston, Leigh) and Ross (Whangarei). (Northern Advocate, July 1963) Public - Sandra - Researcher - 26 November 2018 - Waipu Museum
