    Found guilty, Camp Sling, 28 October 1916, of overstaying pass from 2 am to 3.30 pm, 28 October 1916: reduced to the ranks and forfeited 1 day's pay.
    Proceeded overseas to France from Camp Sling, 15 November 1916; joined 2nd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, 2 December 1916, and posted to 13th Company.
    Found guilty, 9 January 1917, of being absent from billet after 8.30 pm until 8.50 pm: forfeited 2 days' pay.
    Found guilty, 27 February 1917, (1) of being absent without leave from roll call at 8.30 pm to 8.45 pm; and (2) urinating in billet: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2.
    Admitted to hospital, 13 April 1917; transferred to Base Depot, 16 April 1917 (no further details recorded).
