    Proceeded overseas to France, 15 November 1916; joined 2nd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 4 December 1916.
    Detached to 3rd Company, NZ Engineers, 21 July 1917.
    Wounded in action, 12 August 1917, 12 August 1917 (gun shot wound, right leg), and admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 13 August 1917; transferred same day to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station, and thence same day to No 7 Canadian General Hospital, Etaples; transferred to No 9 General Hospital, Rouen, 25 August 1917. Transferred to England, 4 September 1917, and admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 5 September 1917; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 25 September 1917; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 26 October 1917; attached to 4th Reserve Bn, Sling Camp, 5 February 1918.
    Attended Course of Instruction, Lyndhurst, 11-27 March 1918: failed.
    Marched into NZ Machine Corps Depot, Grantham, 13 April 1918.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 27 May 1918 (tonsillitis); discharged to Machine Gun Corps Depot, Grantham, 5 June 1918.
    Admitted to Military Hospital, 19 June 1918 (influenza); discharge date not recorded.
