  • Husband of Wife Alice Emily Jackson, nee Edward. Father of Aubrey Montague Ferdinand born 27 April 1901 at Carterton, Ada Mary Reta (Reta) born 11 March 1903 at Carterton, Illene Alice May (Snow) born 19 March 1904 at Carterton, Eric James born 10 March 1906 at Palmerston North and Alfred Hector (Hec) born 14 September 1910 at Masterton.

    He was still attached to Canteens Division at time of death.

    His wife Alice Emily Jackson remarried, her 2nd husband was Frederick Polly. She died on Waiheke Island.

    The Battle of the Scarpe: On September 4th [1918] the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, as Divisional reserve, moved to the area between Favreuil and Fremicourt, reconnoitring parties going east as far as Bertincourt to keep battalions informed as to the ever-changing situation. Transport lines and quartermasters' stores were brought up to the north side of Bapaume.The 2nd Brigade having taken Neuville on the 5th September, completed its fine work by capturing Metz-en-Couture and clearing Havrincourt Wood by dawn on the 7th.   • I saw a photo (the same picture on this website) of my Great Great Uncle Aubrey in the window of the Wairarapa Archives window today. It was the first photo that I have seen of Aubrey with his family & in his WW1 uniform. It was a nice surprise; I went into the Archives to have a chat about the Jackson family & to talk about Aubrey's life in the Wairarapa and to commemorate his life that sadly ended less than two months of WW1 ending.
