15 Sep 1917 A most distresing street accident occurred in Molesworth street, Wellington, yesterday afternoon, which resulted in the death of a boy six years of age, Gordon Challis. At 4.20 p.m. the child, whose parents reside at 57 Tinakori road, was crossing Molesworth street, and failed to notice the approach of a motor car, driven by Percy Withers. The motorist, it is stated by eye-witnesses, did his uptmost to avoid the child, and in doing so crashed into a verandah post, but unfortunately the car struck the little fellow. He was picked up in an unconscious condition, and after being examined by Dr Herbert, was removed to the Children's Hospital, where he succumbed shortly after regaining consciousness at 12.30 o'clock this morning
