    • He enlisted and left with the 17th Reinforcements when seventeen years old and won the Military Medal for bravery on the field at Havrincourt Wood. Source: Archives New Zealand. AWMM
    • I have checked his military record at Archives New Zealand. Interestingly, he gave his birth date at attestation as 8.5.95, but it also notes his birth certificate 1.5.99 (also on his discharge medical form). So he joined up on 1 June 1916 having just turned 17 years old.

      I query the photo: this shows the collar regimental badge is the Rifle Brigade, not 2nd Canterbury to which he belonged. Is this him? Public - Jeffrey - Researcher - 10 November 2019 - Archives New Zealand
