    Proceeded overseas to France, 8 January 1917. Marched in to New Zealand Infantry and General Base Depot, Etaples, France, 9 January 1917.
    Taken on strength, A Company, 3rd Battalion, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, 8 February 1917.
    Admitted to No 3 New Zealand Field Ambulance, 18 March 1917 (influenza); admitted to New Zealand Divisional Rest Station, 22 March 1917; admitted to 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 29 March 1917 (bronchitis); admitted to No 35 General Hospital, Calais, 10 April 1917; transferred to No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 25 April 1917.
    Attached to New Zealand Infantry and General Base Depot, Etaples, 20 May 1917. Found guilty, 11 June 1917, of gambling: awarded 14 days confined to barracks; forfeited a total of 14 days' pay.
