  • Embarked Wellington, 16 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 29 December 1916, and marched into Sling Camp.
    Taken on strength, NZ Machine Gun Corps, Grantham, 5 January 1917; transferred to No 4 Company, NZMGC, Grantham, from No 6 (Depot) Company, 23 May 1917.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 28 May 1917.
    Found guilty, 24 July 1917, of being improperly dressed at Bailleul, 19 July 1917: awarded 3 days' Field Punishment No 2.
    Admitted to No 4 NZ Field Ambulance, 30 November 1917 (injured left heel), and transferred same day to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance; to No 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, 1 December 1917; to 14th General Hospital, Wimeruex, 3 December 1917; to England, 9 December 1917, and admitted to King George Hospital, London. Transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 21 December 1917; discharged to Machine Gun Corps Depot, Grantham, 26 January 1918, and sent on leave to 11 February 1918.
    Classified unfit by Medical Board, Grantham, 17 May 1918, and placed on NZ Roll.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Plymouth on board SS 'Mokoia', 30 May 1918; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service), 14 August 1918.
    Total war service: 2 years 76 days (of which 1 year 275 days were abroad) AWMM
