    Proceeded overseas to France, 1 March 1917; joined 1st Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 31 March 1917.
    Found guilty, 16 June 1917, of being absent from billet after 9 pm, 2 June 1917: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2 and forfeited 7 days' pay.
    Reported missing, 23 June 1917.
    Reported by Central Prioner of War Committee to be prisoner of war (wounded, left buttock), Limburg, Germany.
    Arrived Switzerland for internment, 27 December 1917.
    Arrived (released) London, 12 December 1918.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Portsmouth on board SS 'Raranga', 11 March 1919; disembarked Newport, Nova Scotia, Canada, 25 March 1919; re-embarked, 29 March 1919; discharged, 16 September 1919.
