  • William Gordon Bruce was my grandfather and spent his later life in Karori Wellington. I knew him very well and got to see him often as i lived in the same city. Grandad never spent his last days in a retirement home instead my late Aunty Diana took care of him and ensured he had good quality of life until the end in 1984. i am very proud of my grandfather and the sacrifice he made for his country and will always remember him. I have treasured photos of him going back to 1891 when he was only a baby and when my time comes will be passed down his great grandchildren. Rest in peace brave soldier you are never forgotten.
