    • Samuel Kennedy was the son of Robert and Margaret Hood Kennedy of 126 Clarence Rd., Lower Riccarton, Christchurch.

      Samuel Kennedy was a two-time winner of the Single-Handed Sawing Championship of the World, winning in 1914 and 1915 in the 2ft logs category. AWMM
    • Samuel was one of three brothers to serve in the First World War. Armstrong Kennedy (1887-1966) initially served with the Otago Infantry Battalion before joining the Canterbury Regiment.
