    Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) AWMM
    Sergeant, 3rd Battalion, Otago Regiment Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Sain Kalea on 6th August, 1918. He was with a small party detailed to cover the retirement of a column, and was left behind to bring the transport out of a village. He and another NCO beat off a determined enemy attempt to capture the mules. Throughout the fight for fifteen miles he worked Lewis gun and rifle continuously. London Gazette 18/02/1919 AWMM
