  • While researching this evening I came across the name of Frederick Arthur King who was killed in action on the Somme in March 1918. Arthur as he seemed to prefer was only 23 when he died . He had been a carpenter before enlisting and was still single. Another good young man lost in the terrible mincing machine of 1914-18.New Zealand lost many of their finest in that slaughter -I dont think we have ever recovered.
    Rest in peace Arthur Frederick -you are still remembered.
