  • Son of William Kirk and Emma Kirk, of Crewe St., Gore, Southland, New Zealand.

    Transferred to England when his health began to rapidly deteriorate. He spent time at No.1 NZGH, Brockenhurst, Hornchurch Convalescent Depot and Codford Command Depot. By early January 1917 the medical authorities had diagnosed that he was suffering from hysteria epilepsy. The cause of his death was cerebral tumour. (Church, p.84)

    Brothers Mervyn Kirk (24/207) died in New Zealand and Wilfred Blythe Kirk (24/484) died in England.
