    Proceeded overseas to France, 28 May 1917.
    Wounded in action, 26 June 1917 (shell shock); admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 28 June 1917; transferred to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 29 June 1917; to 8th Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, 30 June 1917; to No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 3 July 1917; to NZ Base Depot, Etaples, 5 July 1917.
    Transferred to 1st Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, and posted to 4th Company, 11 August 1917.
    Wounded in action (Second occasion), 4 October 1917 (shell concussion), and admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to 9th Casualty Clearing Station; to St John Ambulance Brigade Hospital, Etaples, 5 October 1917; to England, 10 October 1917, and admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 15 October 1917; to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 6 November 1917; marched in to Reserve Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, Sling Camp, 19 February 1918.

    Appointed Temporary Corporal, 13 July 1918.
