  • Great Uncle Jacob was my grandmother Clara Elizabeth Tilyard's brother. I know very little about Uncle Jake, only that he was killed the day before Armistace Day, and that my Dad was named after him. Dad was given the name Jacob Edwin, and was born in May 1920, only a couple of years after Uncle Jake was killed.

  • Jacob was my grandfathers brother and was dearly missed , all my father had of him was family photos and photos of Jacob and his brother in uniform before they left. My grandfather didn't speak much about his brother as he was about 10 when his brothers went to war and I think it was hard for him to know his brother wasn't coming home. I am intending to particapate in a re-enactment of the March Jacob would have done over the Rimutaka hill from the Featherston Military Camp in honor of his memory.
