  • Son of William and Jane Knuckey, of 41 Boydfield Street, Wanganui East.

    Native of Invercargill.

"At school here for two years from the beginning of 1911, left New Zealand with the 9th Reinforcements, and proceeded to Egypt for a period of training before he left for France. He was wounded in the chest at the battle of the Somme on September 17th, but was able to rejoin his unit on June 13th, 1917. A month previously he was recommended for a commission, which unfortunately he never lived to receive." (In Memoriam, 1914-1918 [Wanganui Collegiate School]) AWMM
