  • Thomas Lane was the son of Andrew and Julia Lane, of Carraganes, Kingwilliamstown, Co. Cork, Ireland.

    Embarked Wellington, 15 February 1919; disembarked Devonport, England, 26 April 1917, and marched in to 4th Reserve Bn, Sling Camp.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 26 May 1917; taken on strength, 1st Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 19 June 1917.
    Wounded in action, 26 July 1917 (gassed, shell); admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 27 July 1917; transferred to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 3 August 1917; discharged to unit, 13 August 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 14 August 1917.
    Killed in action, 12 October 1917.
    Burial recorded; grave subsequently lost.
