    • The Auckland Museum Library's manuscripts collection holds an autograph album containing an entry by Collins whilst he was convalescing at No. 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, England, in December 1917. [Ref. MS 2003/82] AWMM
    • Clifford was the son of John James Collins and an unknown mother. His birth entry has never been found but he gave his birth date as 2 July 1897 - place of birth is probably Hawera. Clifford died of scarlet fever on 12 January 1936 leaving his two little girls orphans. they remember him as being a wonderful day. He was a lay preacher and Sunday School teacher in the Anglican Church. A memorial plaque to him is on the wall in his church. he is buried with his beloved wife Jessie in Karori Cemetery.
