  • He was the son of Joseph Hayward & Flora Jane HOOPER (nee SHEDDAN). His father was a Dentist from Feilding. They had five children – Howard Henry (b1893), Victor Candy (b1895), Ruth Charlotte (b1896), Flora McKenzie (b1898) and William Rowlands (b1900). Two brothers enlisted with the NZEF - Howard Henry (3/267) and Victor Candy (23700).
