  • Jack Leen was a first cousin of my father, Tommy McNamee, and served as Best Man at the wedding of his parents, Wishie and Bridget, in Gore in January 1907 with the bride being Jack's aunt, and he a lad of sixteen at the time. Just five days after Jack's death, another cousin, Peter Millane, also fell in France. Both also commemorated on parents' headstones in Gore and on find-a-grave memorials. Their bravery will long be remembered and their absence keenly felt for many generations. R.I.P.

    Report
  • Jack Leen as he was known to his family was my father (Charlie Haggarts) uncle. He was Kathleen Haggarts (nee Leen) brother. She was my grandmother. I have a photo of him in his army uniform which was handed down to me and it hung in my grandmothers house. I wanted to acknowledge his scarifice and the huge impact his death would have had on his family and friends. We will remember him. Ross Haggart ( relative)
